After Apple’s new satellite component introduction, India is as yet not given the admittance to utilize it in its regions.
On Appleās 2022 launch, a new important and most developed feature of āsatellite connectivityā was introduced but some region restrictions came along with it. Which included India too.
The new lineup of the iPhone 14 series comes with Emergency SOS satellite connectivity and car crash detection.
Apple’s satellite availability will utilize the Globalstar network in the two nations- Canada and USA. In India, it should join forces with satellite internet services like Hughes first to provide this feature with reliability.
Satellite phones in India are allowed with specific permission from the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India or as provisioned by M/s BSNL per license granted to M/s BSNL for provision and operation of satellite-based service using Gateway installed in India.
Keeping this matter into consideration, the DDG of the telecommunications department Mr Suneel Kumar quoted, āWe already have satellite connectivity technology available in India. If Apple comes up for clearance on this then we are ready, but they have to tie up with a satellite operatorā.

Satellite availability is an SOS feature utilized in the most distant places where the versatile network isn’t accessible.
āThe satellite connectivity on a phone is at a very early stage. So, we should not be overexcited by it. It wonāt work indoors because you need a line of sight, you must go out to use itā, the DDG adds.
The internet providers with which Apple has to partner before launching the said feature are Hughes or OneWeb.
Hughes Communications India, a joint endeavour element of US-based Hughes Network Systems and Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel, expects to convey high-velocity broadband to the nation all over, remembering for the most distant regions that lie past the ken of terrestrial networks.
Assuming Apple has declared such advances, we can expect that other driving mobile players, for example, Samsung might want to remember this component for their future telephones also.
