With the objection of the new Agniveers scheme that is spreading to eight states, 10% reservation for ‘Agniveers’ in the Central Armed Police Forces(CAPFs) and Assam Rifles were announced by the Government today. There will also be three years’ age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers in the two paramilitary forces for recruitment as announced by The Ministry of Home Affairs.
A new list of concessions for Agniveers was presented by the Center on Saturday as protests against the Agnipath programme expanded to numerous states. At the conclusion of their four-year service in the Army, “Agniveers” will be integrated into the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, according to a Ministry of Home Affairs release.
It further said that the first batch of Agniveer will get five years of age relaxation beyond the upper age limit that is prescribed.
The declaration comes after Amit Shah, Union Home Minister announced Agniveers scheme will be given preferences in CAPFs. The government has already declared the age limit for the new military recruitment scheme to 23 from 21 as a ‘one-time’ change and that no recruitment has taken place in the past two years. At present, there are around 73,000 posts that are vacant in five wings of the paramilitary forces, and 73,219 posts are vacant in CAPFs. And 18,124 posts are vacant in the police forces of the Union Territories – Agnipath protest.
Agniveers will be granted precedence for government positions after their four-year term of service, according to a separate announcement from the Defence Ministry. “I am pleased that it has been declared to give priority to Agniveers for selection in several government offices following the conclusion of their military duty. They will also be given the option of a loan at a more affordable rate if they want to complete any more projects.
