Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday, 15th November inaugurated multiple new infrastructures at the Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati, Assam.Â
Infrastructure includes 850 seater auditorium, Principal’s residence, attendant’s guest house, nurse quarters, and boy’s hostel on the premises.
The state-government-run Guwahati Medical College was at the fore in helping fight Covid-19 and worked for lakhs of patients in the last two years of the pandemic.
The Assam Chief Minister Sarma said that this was part of the initiative of the Assam government to bring change to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, the auditorium which consists of 850 seats and is built for Rs 6 Crore with aid from Oil India Limited and 165 beds Vishram Sadan i.e the guest house for Rs 13 crore with funds provided by Power Grid Corporation of India.
Likewise, the principal’s residence costs Rs 2 crore, the Boy’s Hostel costs Rs 11 crore, and the nurse’s quarters at Rs 3.32 crore.
The State’s Health Minister Kehshab Mahanta, GMCH superintendent Dr. Abhijit Sarma and several other top government officials were present at the inauguration ceremony, according to ANI.
