Over 3,000 people, including 1,000 children, have been affected as flood hits Assam Dibrugarh district on Wednesday. This was informed by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The incident of flood has been reported from the Chabua revenue circle in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. This was informed by the Chief executive officer of the ASDMA GD Tripathi.
Tripathi said that the district does not currently have an alert for high flooding. However, heavy rainfall is predicted in Dibrugarh, Assam. “All emergency services in the state have been kept on the highest level of alertness,” he said.
A total of 3,857 people have been affected due to flooding, among them are 1,050 children, the ASDMA informed.
According to the reports of ASDMA, an Anganwadi center and an elementary school have been inundated in the revenue circle. Besides, erosion has also been reported in the Gereki area.
AÂ Central Water Commission report said that the Brahmaputra was flowing above the warning level at Neematighat in the Jorhat district. Another River Jiabharali in the Sonitpur district was also flowing above the danger level.
Meanwhile, the weather department in its forecast for the next 24 hours said that moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, at many places over Assam and Meghalaya and light rain is very likely to occur in isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
The department further warned that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura while thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed (40-50) KMPH is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya and heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh.
