The sequence of events
Gurdial Singh, recounting the circumstances that led to Pardeep’s death, told the reporter they learned from a man who was with Pardeep first at the time the incident occurred that Gurdarshan Singh had seriously injured his foot and had difficulty walking. The two buddies paid a visit to Budha Dal, a Nihang group, at their tent.
On the occasion of Hola Mohalla, Pardeep Singh was on his way to Shri Anandpur Sahib to pay his respects when he complained to several men playing loud music through their vehicles. During the altercation that followed, those thugs fatally stabbed Pardeep.
Pardeep had the intention of going to the gurudwaras in Anandpur Sahib, but when he was on his way there, he came across some violent thugs who were making a nuisance of themselves by playing loud music.
They got into a heated argument with Pardeep as soon as he requested that they lower the volume of the music. “In the end, they were able to take him down with their strength and stab him,” Gurdial Singh explained to the reporters.
About Pradeep Singh
Pardeep Singh, who was killed by some hecklers at Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday, was descended from a military family. His uncle Gurdial Singh recently resigned from the Indian Army as a havaldar, while his father Gurbaksh Singh, an honourable captain in the Indian Army, is headed for retirement in May of this year.
Anandpur Sahib in the Ropar district is the spot of what is among the largest religious gatherings in Punjab every year to commemorate Hola Mohalla. Historically, this event was first observed in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, the Tenth Sikh Master, whose troops would put on a martial arts demonstration for the crowd.
Gurdial Singh, Pardeep Singh’s uncle, says that in 2016, after finishing 12th grade, Pardeep settled in Canada and had become a permanent resident (PR). Kiranbir Kaur, Pardeep’s younger sister, is also currently based in the Great White North.
And according to Gurdial Singh, Pardeep arrived in India in September of last year in anticipation of his daughter’s wedding.
His friend Gurdarshan Singh, originally from Canada, had just arrived in India on February 18 and inspired him to pay a visit to Anandpur Sahib. The two of them eventually settled on making this year’s Hola Mohalla celebration trip to Anandpur Sahib.
Since he was a young boy, Pardeep had been a devoted member of the Budha Dal. Gurdarshan was left behind as Pardeep left the Budha Dal’s tent with another individual and rode away on his motorcycle, according to Gurdial Singh.
Gurdial explained that Pardeep was a baptised Sikh and a devoted disciple of Budha Dal when he was enquired when he had begun wearing clothes like a Nihang. Gurdial also stated that Pardeep was a Nihang.
He went on to say that Pardeep had worn the clothing of the Nihangs ever since he was a child and that he had visited Budha Dal tents even while he was living in Canada.
Finding the Scoundrels
The relatives are waiting for Pardeep’s sister to arrive so she can give him his final rites. In the meantime, the Ropar police announced that they had found the jeep that the offenders had been driving and named one of the suspects as Niranjan Singh of Noorpurbedi. Additionally hurt, the defendant was taken to PGI, Chandigarh.
The scoundrels were from neighbouring villages, so the officers are undertaking raids. Pardeep made his first trip to India in 2018 and encouraged children to engage in volunteer work, according to Kumar. The mishap has shocked the neighbourhood. Internet users faulted criminals for the tragic event.
The village of Ghazikot, where Pardeep was born and raised, was in shock, according to Raman Kumar, the sarpanch. Pardeep was well-liked for his kind disposition.
