ATK Mohun Bagan has announced the departure of the Punjabi defender Sandesh Jhinghan. The Kolkata based club announced the release of this veteran defender through their social media handles.
According to many reports, Juan Ferrando thinks that former Kerala Blasters defender is not suitable to his possession-based style of play. For same reason, Roy Krishna and Prabir Das were also released from the club.
Sandesh Jhinghan’s future with ATK Mohun Bagan began to appear dreadful when the club announced the signing of two foreign central defenders Florentin Pogba and Australian defender Brendan Hemil.
Sandesh Jhingan wanted regular play time which Juan Ferrando refused to provide because of which Sandesh decided to bid a farewell to the Kolkata club.
Sandesh Jhingan joined ATKMB in 2020-21 season. He played for the club for two seasons. He played for ATKMB in ISL and AFC Cup. He also featured in the final of ISL where ATKMB narrowly lost to Mumbai City FC.
According to various media sources, East Bengal and Bengaluru FC are the two clubs interested to sign Sandesh Jhingan in India. Apart from that he has offers from Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
It’s up to player now whether he wants to try another foreign stint. In 2020 he joined a Croatian club HNK Sibenik. He didn’t play a single game for them. He returned to India because of getting diagnosed with injury.
There’s also chance of Sandesh Jhinghan joining East Bengal or Bengaluru FC. If he stays in India, then Bengaluru FC seems to be the more likely option for Sandesh Jhingan. As majority of the national team players play for Bengaluru FC and the club is known for its efficient and professional functioning.
The transfer of the Sandesh Jhingan is very crucial as he’s the main central defender for the national team. His form is impeccable for National team. Bengaluru FC fans are pretty confident of the defender signing for them.
