Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is in Sydney at present, concerning his second official trip to Australia, to strengthen relations between the two countries. He has addressed vital and global concerns with the Australian Prime Minister: Anthony Albanese.
Today, on May 24th , the Indian Prime Minister raised his serious concern about “ Indian Temples”, being attacked and destroyed in Australia, with Anthony Albanese. He also raised his concerns about “Khalistani” elements present and working in Australia without any restraint or fear. Khalistanis are a separatist group that wants to form their own sovereign land for Sikhs.
Earlier this month, it was reported that an important Hindu temple in Sydney had been tarnished by pro-Khalistani elements. This happened just a few days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Australia. The Indian sculptures in temples were vandalised, and a Khalistani flag was found hanging at the temple. Thus, highlighting the atrocity of the crime. This destruction took place at Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Rosehill, Sydney.
These frequent attacks by Khalistanis highlight their “anti-Hindu” intention. A while ago, it was reported that four BAPS temples had been again defecated in by the Khalistanis. They were destroyed in Melbourne and Brisbane.
BAPS temples all around Australia are a symbol of multiculturalism and the power of globalisation. They represent the historic tradition and rich inheritance of our country. The population of Australia is highly dominated by Indians, who are the caretakers of the 5th largest economy in the world. Indians can be found all over Australia, in the form of students and working professionals, who contribute significantly to the economy and GDP of the country.
Every year, hundreds of students enter Australia to attain a degree. Thus, benefiting Australian universities, which indirectly strengthens the finances. Indians play a huge part in changing the cycle of the land. Thus, such kind of Anti- acts are not appreciable, and this has surely not gone well with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
One of the officials reported, “ I am deeply shocked and saddened by this act of mindless destruction, everyone in Australia has the right to practise their faith.
The Indian Prime Minister, while addressing the press conference today , “ I have conveyed our concern to Australian Prime Minister Albanese, who has assured us that the safety of the Indian community will be a priority to them. We will further stay in touch with each other and cooperate as much as possible.”
Australian Prime Minister has assured Narendra Modi ji: “Australia will not tolerate attacks on religious places and that anyone responsible for such activities will face the full force of the law.”
The Indian PM thanked the Australian Prime Minister for taking legal action against Khalistanis. To which, the latter replied, that he would do so in the future as well.
On the security front, India and Australia will be coming together. The defence system will be further strengthened by maritime cooperation. This alliance is meant to weaken China’s hold on the Indo-Pacific region. In the past as well, the defence system has shared and exchanged vital information for the prosperity and sovereignty of both nations, and they intend to do so in the future.
The major aim of the meeting is to strengthen the Indian- Australian partnership, address and tackle the seen and unseen challenges, and work collectively for the benefit of the world.
