Mamata Banerjee, who is embroiled in a political battle after eight people were burned alive by a mob in a village in Bengal’s Birbhum, will visit the area today. The opposition BJP has accused the Chief Minister of presiding over a catastrophic breakdown of law and order in the state. On Tuesday, a mob imprisoned eight individuals in their homes and burned them alive, including three women and two children, in vengeance for the death of a local Trinamool Congress politician in a crude bomb assault. Students in Karnataka denied re-examination due to the Hijab controversy

Several Muslim girl students throughout Karnataka boycotted lectures and exams after the Karnataka High Court issued an interim ruling on Tuesday, March 15 2022, banning the hijab and saffron shawl in colleges where uniforms are required.   Many Muslim female students are worried after Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh confirmed on Monday that the government would not conduct re-exams for absentees. India Reports 1,549 new Covid-19 cases

In the last 24 hours, India reported 1,581 new coronavirus cases, bringing the overall number of COVID-19 cases to 4,30,10,922. According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, the number of active cases has dropped to 23,913 today.  The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, it showed.  Active cases account for 0.06 percent of infections. Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded to be at 98.74 per cent nationally.   Over the span of 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload was reduced by 2,741 cases.  …
