The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed former Punjab’s Senior IPS Officer, Dinkar Gupta as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Dinkar Gupta, who was Punjab’s senior IPS Officer, was from the 1987-batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. Last year, he was promoted from the Director-General of Police (DGP) in Punjab, by the then-Congress Government led by Charanjit Singh Channi in October and was posted as Chairman of the Punjab Police Housing Corporation (PPHC).
