World Health Assembly rejects Taiwan’s plea to join

The World Health Assembly has rejected Taiwan’s plea to join its annual gathering despite support from countries like the US, France, Australia and UK. Taiwan blamed China for its routine objection to including the nation. On day one of the 74th World Health Assembly (WHA), the forum of 174 countries even refused to discuss the entry of Taiwan as an observer. It had been given observer status before. ‘Vaghsheer’ Scorpene Submarine’s First Sea Sortie

The Indian Navy’s Kalvary Class Scorpene submarine, ‘Vaghsheer’ began its sea trials. The submarine was launched from the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) on April 20, 2022. It is the sixth scorpene submarine of Project-75, yard 11880. The submarine will now go through intense trials which include testing its sensors, weapons and propulsion systems at sea. The name Vaghsheer is taken from the Sand Fish of the same name- a deadly deep sea predator found in the Indian ocean. Amid Militarisation concern, US-Papua New Guinea sign Agreement

The United States and Papua New Guinea (PNG) are set to sign a security agreement to increase the US’s influence in the pacific. Air Asset by Indian Navy save Chinese vessel

The Indian Navy deployed its Air Maritime Reconnaissance assets in the Southern Indian Ocean to save a sinking Chinese Fishing Vessel LuPeng YuanYu 028. The ship had 39 crew members on board missing including 17 Chinese, 17 Indonesian, 5 Filipinos. Two people from the crew were confirmed dead. The P18 aircraft deployed by the Indian navy is part of the ongoing search for the missing vessel.
