The United States cancelled planned talks with the Taliban after Afghanistan’s rulers made a reversal on girls’ education, shutting girls out of middle and high school hours after doors were opened. On Wednesday, a Russian resolution that acknowledged Ukraine’s rising humanitarian needs while omitting to address the Russian invasion got rejected by the United Nations Security Council.  The resolution draft needed nine votes in the 15-member council to pass, with no veto from any of the other four permanent members. CUET: 12th percentage no longer necessary 

The University Grants Commission Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar on Monday announced that,  “The central universities will have to use Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to admit students to undergraduate programmes this year and not the Class 12 marks.”  The entrance exam announced for undergraduate admissions to UGC-affiliated central universities will be conducted in the first week of July. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the exam, which will serve as the basis for admission to almost 1.8 lakh seats across 45 central universities and their affiliated/constituent colleges.
