If you have not yet submitted your income tax return (ITR) for fiscal year 2020-21, you will be required to pay higher TDS, TCS beginning April 1, 2022, if your total TDS, TCS was Rs 50,000 or more in fiscal year 2020-21. Sebi issued the regulation for mandatorily filing nomination or opting out of nominations in its circular dated July 23, 2021. Existing investors’ demat and trading accounts will be frozen if they do not comply with this guideline. New accounts will not be established after October 1, 2021 if this regulation is not followed.
