Digital skills training needs have become more prominent amid the pandemic. According to Amazon Web Services (AWS) report, the number of workers requiring digital skills for their jobs was anticipated to rise by 27.3 million over the next year.
And about 95% of the workforce surveyed in India acknowledged that they require more digital skills to complete the task of their workplace. Around 7% of India’s workforce will need new digital skills training next year to survive with changes.
The report, ‘Building Digital Skills for the changing workforce’ has been organized by policy and economic consulting firm AlphaBeta and commissioned by Amazon Web Services, surveyed one thousand and twelve digitally skilled employees in technology and non-technology job, and three hundred and three employers in India, with representation from a private, public, and nonprofit division of different industries.
Higher adoption of cloud-based technology in India is expected to increase the demand for a digitally skilled workforce. Cloud-based tools, such as customer relationship management (CRM), cloud developer tools, accounting, as well as online collaboration will be the most in-demand skill required by workers by 2025.
About sixty-three percent of the staff would require training in cloud-related skills by 2025 to grow in their profession. And pandemics have also sped up the need for more training for both tech and non-tech human resources on digital capabilities in India.
The need for more highly developed cloud computing skills, such as cloud architecture design and machine learning, which have emerged as the most in-demand digital skills by the workforce in India by 2025. These skills are estimated to be in high demand in sectors like healthcare, education, fintech, media, IT/ITeS, agriculture, and entertainment.
Importance of cloud-based tools
Enterprises stay in touch with their clients, partners, and workers easily with the help of Cloud-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and collaboration tools. Cloud-based solutions continued to run and facilitate flawless business operations during the crisis and this has increased the assurance of enterprises in acceptance cloud.
Amit Mehta, Head of AWS Training and Certification, states that Amazon Web Services was invested 100 million globally to offer free cloud computing skill training to 29 million people and the highlighted point is that AWS already trained over one million Indians with cloud computing skills since 2017.
AWS offers over 500 free digital training courses. 12-week full-time course AWS re/Start is running in India to prepare for cloud computing. To accomplish the task to provide digital skills AWS associates with workers development organizations, higher education institutions, government and non-profits organizations.
The report also found that lack of time to join training was the most commonly faced obstacle to digital skilling, 77% of employees in the country mention this. Some other reasons include inadequate awareness of training options, low training quality, and high training costs.
