The Election Commission said on Thursday morning that it has decided to withdraw the ban imposed on January 8, 2022 on victory processions during the counting of votes and declaration of result in the five states where elections were held recently.
Reason for removing the ban
A ban on victory processions was one of the restrictions imposed by the Election Commission keeping in mind the Covid on January 8, 2022.
It also prohibited the political parties from holding political rallies, roadshows and street corner meetings. Instead, the Commission advised the respective parties to opt for virtual rallies.
The commission gradually relaxed these restrictions according to the covid situation, that went to be on a low scale with time.
Today, the commission said that another review was carried out by them and looking at the situations it has been decided to allow the victory processions subject to state level restrictions which are imposed by the state disaster management guidelines.
The relaxation was announced on a day when according to the health ministry, the new reported cases of Covid-19 in the country are 4,184 against the count of 141,506 cases reported on January 8.
The decision day coincided with the result day of the election process in the five states- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur respectively.
Celebrations all around
As the election process is gradually proceeding with votes pouring in the favor of BJP and AAP, people can’t seem to contain their happiness and excitement towards their preferred party.
Celebrations already seem to occur in the state of Uttar Pradesh where people have started coming out on the streets with flags and sashes of the party, dancing and throwing saffron color everywhere.
Although the final results are yet to be declared, following the trends and leads people seem to be convinced about the win for the BJP party.
