Due to a bizarre knee injury for which he just underwent surgery, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is expected to miss the T20 World Cup 2022 after being disqualified from the Asia Cup 2022 competition, where he had only played two matches.
According to sources, Jadeja’s latest brush with the knee ailment may have been entirely averted. Jadeja has been battling knee troubles that prevented him from playing in the ODI series in the West Indies.
Jadeja was required to participate in a water-based training exercise in the hotel’s “backwater” facility while the Indian squad was based there while competing in the Asia Cup T20 event.
“He had to balance himself on some kind of a ski-board as part of an adventure activity – not part of the training manual at all. It was unnecessary. He slipped and twisted his knee badly, which led to surgery,” sources cited.
The injury to star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has disrupted the team’s combination, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not pleased. “We are not pleased about Jadeja’s injury. He should have kept the World Cup in mind while participating in risky behaviours. But he was not at fault, and he did not anticipate the World Cup. We are dissatisfied with Jadeja’s actions “ANI obtained information from a source.
The sources also questioned the need of engaging in such a dangerous ski-boarding sport before such a significant T20 World Cup competition. According to reports, BCCI executives are furious over how the injury occurred.
The severity of the injuries, according to people in the know, is so great that an explanation will soon be required, even though no formal queries have been made as of yet.
“What’s surprising here is, that Head Coach Rahul Dravid hasn’t ‘lost his cool’ given how the injury occurred. Ideally, one would have expected Dravid to question this entire process. All said, the bottom line is – India will travel to Australia without Jadeja,” sources added.
After playing the first two games of the Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan and Hong Kong, Jadeja hurt his right knee and was ruled out.
Jadeja underwent knee surgery on Tuesday, and the all-rounder will shortly begin his recovery. On Tuesday, He posted on Instagram to declare the outcome of his procedure.
