The 2024 Cricket ODI World Cup will begin in October this year. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has commenced the team’s build up for it by drawing up a shortlist of 20 players for the final squad. These players are set to be monitored in the leadup to the tournament and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will also co-ordinate with their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) teams during the 2024 edition of the T20 tournament to ensure that they avoid injuries.
Players who impresses BCCI selector
The BCCI board did not reveal the names of those 20 players who are in the final squad. Let’s have a look on the name of those players who are having great chance to be among the final 20 players.
- 1st Rohit Sharma :-
BCCI may be select Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team. Last year he is the captain of team and it is clear that his position is secure, there is no threat for his position in those 20 players. There is negligible chance that any player open the innings ahead him.
- 2nd Ishan Kishan:
Ishan Kishan is the another player who is having more chance to get select by BCCI in those 20 players, he is the Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman. He is having a record of hitting double century against Bangladesh which put him in front of all other candidates which open the innings with Rohit Sharma.
- 3rd Shubman Gill/Shikhar Dhawan:
There is a chance that BCCI select Gill on 2nd place but Kishan’s record breaking performance push him on 3rd place. As Dhawan, who was India’s longtime opener with Rohit Sharma seems to be gone as he was dropped from the team in upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
- 4th Virat Kohli:
He has ended his long awaited centuries drought this year. We all know he is having most success in ODI format. He is playing well undoubtfully he will be the part of the final squad.
- 5th Shreyas Iyer:
In the year 2022, Iyer has seen India’s best ODI batsman. He had score highest run in that format and will earn the place of first names in eleven for a while.
- 6th Suryakumar Yadav:
Last year Suryakumar had perform extraordinary in T20Is, which increases his chances of being in the team.
- 7th Rishabh Pant:
There is no doubt that Pant is key player of the team in all format, his availability depends on his car accident recovery. His best performances, push him in the top order.
- 8th KL Rahul:
KL Rahul lost his vice-captaincy to Pandya and it means that he is no longer immune to the drop after a string of indifferent performances since returning from injury last year.
- 9th Hardik Pandya:
Pandya’s extraordinary performance last year, has put him ahead of many players and increase the chances to be select in team.
- 10th Ravindra Jadeja:
Due to injuries Jadeja was out from the squad and India miss the best all rounder. If he recover from his injury and able to perform like last matches, increase the chances to be in the squad.
- 11th Sanju Samson:
He showed his best as a finisher in 50 overs cricket, he is having a reckoning for a place in the eleven.
- 12th Washington Sundar:
The all-rounder has prove that he is a good batsman also. Injuries have hampered him last year and he will get his chance of being in the team.
- 13th Jasprit Bumrah:
Bumrah is the key player for the team but his injury ruled him out of the match. If he recover then he will definitely part of the team.
- 14th Yuzvendra Chahal:
IF we talk about spinners, we can’t ignore Chahal, so there is a chance that make him worthy for the team.
- 15th Kuldeep Yadav:
Kuldeep will always the key player for team for any major tournament. However, it is the point of trust, he wasn’t the part of team in second Test Match against Bangladesh despite providing he is a player of the match performance in the first.
- 16th Mohammed Shami:
Shami was one of the India’s best bowlers in the T20 World Cup and there is a chance that the team will be keeping the senior pacer in their squad.
- 17th Mohammed Siraj:
There is a chance he will be the part of the team, he have to do much more than what he had do last year.
- 18th Arshdeep Singh:
If we took a look on the last matches then he is having strong chance at becoming one of India’s regular pacers in the 2024 Cricket tournament.
- 19th Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Last year he failed to impress us. We are much aware about his capability which make him part of the team.
- 20th Umran Malik:
We are hoping that Umran perform well before World Cup. If he, then team is having that weapon which can tear batting open early in matches.
