The recent `murder` of the hindu tailor, Kanhaiya Lal, in Udaipur, Rajasthan on 28 June 2022, has caused the Rajasthan Governement to impose Section 144 in all districts for one month.
The Internet was also shut down in the state for about 24 hours.

The Union Home Ministry spokesperson said on social media platform, Twitter, that the MHA has given directions to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over the investigation of the ruthless murder of Shri Kanhaiya Lal Teli at Udaipur, Rajasthan .
Along with which the involvement of any organization and international links will also be looked into by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The crime took plave in Udaipur’s Maldas area, by two muslim men, Gos Mohammad and Riyaz Akhtari had entered Kanhaiya’s shop acting as customers.
Police said that the two criminals posted a video while committing the crime on social media, where one of them slit the victim’s throat with a cleaver. They are now arrested for their gruesome crime.
They released another video where both the accused were seen talking about their murder proudly and they also issued a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The tailor had apparently shared a social media post that expressed his support to suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma, whose remarks against Prophet Mohammad had sparked rage on a national and international level.
Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot gave a statement in Jodhpur before returning to Jaipur that the criminals may have links with “radical elements” at both the national and international level.
According to their experience such a ruthless crime cannot be committed without alliances. A thorough investigation will reveal the alliances and conspiracy.
A statement issued after the meeting said the crime was an attempt to create social disharmony and called upon the people to “act with restraint” in such circumstances.

The office of the Director General of Police of Maharashtra has released an alert to police units in the state of Maharashtra.
According to Pune City Police officers, a DGP office alert has been received, and efficient measures are being implemented as a result to prevent any law and order issues in the city.
Following the crime in Udaipur, police officials in Pune have said that there is an alert and social media platforms are also being supervised.
A top Rajasthan police official asked media outlets not to telecast the video of the murder as it was described as “too grisly to watch”.
Udaipur shutdown completely after the crime. Mobile internet services have been stopped and a strict curfew is in place with a heavy police presence all around the city.Tensions can be seen clearly between majority Hindus and minority Muslims who live and work together in the city.
Security was tight for the Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s funeral. It was attended by thousands of people. Most people weren’t willing to speak on camera, but the few people who did seemed to have controversial views.
Some important Muslim organisations have also condemned the murder. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board called the crime “highly condemnable”, also saying that it was against both Indian law as well as Islamic strictures.
“Nobody can be allowed to take the law into their hands and declaring someone a criminal and then murdering them is a highly condemnable act,” the board stated.
