Beijing goes against extracurricular activities, cuts down students from getting involved with foreign languages.Â
Studying online is nothing new; it existed even before the pandemic, but during the lockdown, after Covid-19 spread out all over the world, students from primary to secondary had to depend entirely upon online classes.
So, every online platform had to evolve with time and people who were never used to it also needed to get into new procedure of learning; University students are no different from online classes; they even got into some extracurricular activities which can be performed online through several sites.
From north to south, from west to east, the whole world tried to cooperate to balance studies and basic knowledge of children to adults.Â
Online Tutors
Online studies were there even before lockdown or pandemic. And just like the platforms, lots of tutors are there who genuinely share their knowledge with the world, with students they never saw before and never will meet them in person, yet they are always there to solve students’ problems.
Some online never known tutors are way too better than those who teach in schools and colleges. No doubt that students who used to take online classes from different platforms have felt that once.Â
Although online tutors were there before the pandemic, lockdown came up with more and more people who started to utilise their time and share their knowledge.
Everything expanded slightly in this lockdown from different languages to coding, from diploma degrees to distance learning.Â
China’s AnnouncementÂ
Tutors started to wake up in the morning and get ready for their classes like never before. Sam Justi, a Massachusetts based US tutor who logs in every day to prepare ppts to teach children halfway around the globe, is one of those thousands of foreign language tutors who are open to open their casket of western culture and studies to Chinese students.
But tutors like Josti and other Massachusetts tutors teaching Chinese students got a sharp financial hit after Beijing cracked down on all the external online learning platforms. He cut down all the extracurricular activities students have been doing till now.Â
He said, “Online classes outside China are affecting our country and our next generation”.
In China, every parent wants their kids to learn English and go for one direction-based education system that only can be given by western culture so that their children can have a secure future to determine the trajectory of their lives.Â
But in August, Beijing announced that the Chinese education system reforms and banned tutoring firms from hiring overseas teachers. By reforming education, Beijing ordered education firms to turn their business into non-profit and barred some classes during holidays or weekends. He asked to reduce the entire education cost.Â
Rumours and Criticism
After hearing the recent decision of China, critics have been talking about it, and they’ve been saying that Beijing doesn’t want to involve Chinese children with the outside world. He wants to cut them off from every influence that is coming from outside China.Â
From Massachusetts, Sam Josti said, “I understand wanting to take pressure off parents but not why it’s been so sudden and harsh,” said 44-year-old Josti, a former elementary school teacher who switched to full-time online tutoring in 2017″; “We were bridging the gap between the two countries, and it seems to have stopped before we could finish it,” she told AFP, fearing cultural exchange will now be lost.
“On a personal level, it’s heartbreaking.”

In March, Cindy Mi, the founder of the online learning platform VIPKid, told Chinese state TV that her company had 800,000 Chinese students, and she named it her “Global Classroom.”
Sam Josti is not okay with the fact the Beijing never discussed most things. Education is the essence of every child, and there shouldn’t be any adjustments.
The most problematic result will occur because he cut off the cultural bonding between innocent children.
Political misunderstandings shouldn’t come in the path of knowledge and education, and it’s a sensitive matter.
