The election of President Biden is one of the most tumultuous events in American History.
After four years of the Trump Presidency, a racial war in the streets and ending with a full-fledged invasion of the Capitol building, He is now adamant to defeat Trumpism for good.
But, the election of Donald Trump had a long charismatic history that acted as a catalyst for his Presidential win, something lacks. Biden BiBidenden
Donald and Joe come from starkly different backgrounds. While Joe is a seasoned veteran politician having been elected to Senate at the age of 29, he is well versed in political discourses.
His law-making abilities partnered with Obama tended to national interests with the Affordable Care Act and the Recovery Act that saved the country from an imminent market crash, and his recent act of Student loan forgiveness has an estimation of 20 million people to be debt-free.
But people often publicise and celebrate individual accomplishments more than government policies.
His charisma is bottled in his policies, unlike Trump. Hence the public perception differs vastly – while Biden is seen as a seasoned Politician and a President, Trump was seen as Celebrity President and a successful Businessman – as the face of American capitalism.
But defeating Trump in an election is not enough.
Trump’s presidency had an ideological appeal to most of the Far-Right nationalistic groups, that openly rallied and lobbied for Trump. While Trump never openly associated with them, he never condemned them either.
For example, right after the Charlottesville massacre, where two cars ran into Black Lives Matter protest killing and injuring multiple, Trump condemned the act but also said that the perpetrator was on both sides, while video evidence said otherwise.
Biden’s Challenge
Trump’s presidency’s ideological appeal was warranted by his successful past. It will be wrong to say that Trump is to blame for detrimental politics in the United States.
Most of the people who voted for Trump have seen Trump saving America from utter economic collapse in the 1980s.
During the 1980s, Trump was the only Businessman who invested heavily in the United States, creating numerous Jobs and employment opportunities for the decaying cities of the United States.
His investments in the Real estate business and airlines were sufficient injections of capital to skyrocket the economy.
Moreover, Trump always had an ideological belief against immigration and diversification of the United States, which is serenaded by the recent immigration issues in the United States that fuels right-wing politics.
Response
Previously Joe Biden used Trump’s name very rarely in his speeches, trying to be as professional as he can be.
But recently, that is seen to be changing as he is directly confronting Trump and its supporters and the entire MAGA supporting the republican party.
In his speech, Thursday at Philadephia Independence Hall, he said “Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal” while he stressed that he does not blame the 74 million voters who voted for Trump, he does blame the MAGA Republicans for the dissent of the United States.
He also compared Trump’s presidency with “Semi Fascism”. He blamed the ‘MAGA Republicans’ and said “They are determined to take this country backwards.
Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love”.
Given the recent events, the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, the Invasion of the Capitol building, and numerous death and rioting threats both from civilians and politicians, there is social unrest that is building up in the United States.
While Biden, battles are just starting, things can get way worse for the citizens of the United States of America.
