US President Joe Biden nominated Indian-American engineer, Dr. Aarti Prabhakar, on Tuesday as the next White House science advisor as his management aims to hold the grip on science, technology, and innovation.
Dr. Prabhakar will be Biden’s Chief Advisor for Science and Technology, also a co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, and will also be a member of the President’s Cabinet if it is confirmed by the senate.
The US president described Dr. Prabhakar as a talented and highly- respected engineer and applied physicist. He further added that Indian Americans will guide the Office of Science, technology, and innovation to broaden the possibilities and to also solve their toughest challenges, and possibly make the impossible.
Joe Biden adds that he too shares Dr. Prabhakar’s belief that America has the most significant and most powerful innovation machine that the world has ever seen. As the Senate considers her nomination he even feels grateful to mention that Dr. Alondra Nelson will carry on leading OSTP and Dr. Francis Collins will be continuing to serve as his acting Science Advisor. Ms. Aarti Prabhakar has been universally confirmed to lead the National Institute of Standards and Technology( NIST) by the Senate before and was holding the role as the first woman later on she served as the director of the Defense Advanced Research Agency(DARPA).
