Bihar’s College Teacher Dr. Lalan Kumar who teaches Hindi Nitishwar College under Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) in Muzaffarpur district, claimed that out of 131 students, none of them attends his class.
With a new benchmark of honesty and integrity, Bihar’s College Hindi Teacher Dr. Lalan Kumar has returned his two years and nine months salary of Rs. 24 Lakh as students didn’t any class of him since he joined in 2019.
Bihar’s Dr Lalan Kumar, who teaches Hindi in Nitishwar College under Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, said he fears “academic death” unless shifted to a different college by the university.
Out of 131 students, he claimed that none of them attended his class.
According to The News Indian Express the teacher said, “Why to accept salary when I haven’t taught any of the Students enrolled in this department”.
He returned his salary by sending a cheque and a letter to the university’s Vice-Chancellor.
About Dr. Kumar’s academic qualifications, he graduated from a Delhi University and completed his post graduation from JNU. He did his M.Phil. and PhD. From Delhi University.
“When I had joined, I was not posted to a college where I could teach postgraduate classes. Those with lower ranks got those postings. Here, the students never show up.”
He said that his name was removed from the transfer list several times. He told to NDTV, “I will start a sit-in protest if my demand isn’t met”
The authorities has not yet accepted the protest and payback nor they stated anything yet. The college Principle Manoj Kumar said that contention of Zero attendance has no basis.
“For two years, classes were disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic,” he said, arguing that Lalan Kumar “should’ve told me directly if he wanted a transfer”.
R.K Kumar, there vice-chancellor of the university said that Dr. Kumar is upset regarding to his transfer demand. The vice-chancellor added “He has given us cheque but we don’t accept it”.
This is not the first time when a issue is raised regarding the dropout students in Bihar. It was noted that over 10 Lakh students dropped out from colleges in pandemic in Bihar. This is a really important issue in our country that needs to get solved to save our Country ‘s future.
