BJP MLA Sanjay Gupta alleged that State unit BJP Chief Madan Kaushik is a traitor. Congress leader Harish Rawat considers that he is running out of options.
On Tuesday, just a day after the completion of polls in the state, BJP MLA from Laksar in Haridwar told News Agency ANI, “Uttarakhand BJP chief Madan Kaushik has worked against several BJP candidates to ensure their defeat in this election.
He supported the BSP candidate contesting against me. He is a traitor. I demand the BJP leadership to sack him from the party.” He alleged that the state party Chief, who ought to support BJP candidates, worked against BJP in the 5th Vidhan Sabha elections in Uttarakhand and supported a BSP candidate. Madan Kaushik has not commented on this yet.
On the same day, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, said that he would become the state CM or take retirement. There is no third option. During the interview with web media, he said that he has a vision for Uttarakhand, and he does not want to take any chance on it. He is running out of options.
He is getting older. He will lead the congress government, and if not, he would prefer to leave politics and be at home.
He further added that the people of Uttarakhand are in his favor. Due to their blessings, Congress will form the government this time. He and his daughter, Anupama Rawat, who has contested from Haridwar Rural, will win. In the interview, he also said that due to the efforts of Rahul Gandhi, Congress would get 45 to 48 seats out of 70 seats in Uttarakhand.
State party head Devendra Yadav has denied saying anything on this. He said, let’s wait for the result first; who will become CM is the other thing.
On the other day, during an interview with News agency ANI, Harish Rawat said that no one in Congress is against him. Everyone agrees on him being the CM face. If Congress wins the election, the Congress high command will decide the Chief Minister.
He will welcome and support the high command’s decision wholeheartedly.
In this Assembly election, he has contested from Lalkuan constituency in Nainital district. In 2017, he contested from Haridwar rural and Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar, but he lost both seats. BJP’s Chief Minister face Pushkar Singh Dhami is contesting from Khatima.
He has won Assembly elections thrice from the Khatima seat. Aam Aadmi Party has declared Colonel (retd.)
Ajay Kothiyal as its CM face. He has started his political career recently. He joined AAP in April 2021.
Generally, Uttarkhand is considered the hotbed of the Indian National Congress and BJP. According to past trends, the political party which formed the last government loses the election. This year Aam Aadmi Party is likely to cut the votes of both parties.
Still, the primary battle is between Congress and BJP. Here, people tend to vote on developmental issues instead of caste and religion.
