On Tuesday morning, thousands of BJP supporters from all over the state began to arrive in Kolkata and the nearby Howrah area to participate in the saffron party’s “Nabanna Abhijan.”
Highlights of the Protest
When they were in charge of the Nabanna Cholo Abhiyan in Kolkata, the BJP leaders were taken into custody from Hastings. BJP leader Rahul Sinha, Adhikari, and Chatterjee were brought to the Lalbazar headquarters of the Kolkata Police.
Ahead of the BJP march, the Kolkata Police have heavily barricaded Hastings near the state government’s new Secretariat in Kolkata.
When demonstrators and security personnel started fighting near the Howrah bridge, the police were forced to use tear gas and water cannons to break up the crowd.
Sukanta Majumdar claimed that Mamata Banerjee was terrified and fled after realising how many people were gathered here. Only 30% of them are present today, he added, adding that some of the others were held yesterday.
There are barriers blocking a number of the city’s roads. The police have created a fortress in a 5-kilometer radius around Nabanna to stop the parade.
