PM Modi’s BJP keeps the top spot. The party has wealth equal to the wealth of four political parties combined.
The poll reforms advocacy group, the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), stated that PM Narendra Modi’s Bhartiya Janata Party is the richest of all the parties in India. The party’s assets stood at worth Rs—4,847.78 crores from 2019 to 2020. Followed by BJP, the second most prosperous party in India is Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), with assets worth Rs. 698.33 crore, and Congress stood third, at Rs. 588.16 crore.
ADR analyzed the assets and liabilities of all the national and regional political parties in 2019-2020. According to the Association of Democratic Reforms analysis, the total worth of assets of seven national parties was Rs. 6,988.57 crores in FY 2019-2020. In contrast, the cost of forty-four regional parties stood at 2,129.38 crores. Of all the regional parties, the assets of the top ten parties combined stood at Rs. 2028.715 crores or 95.27%.
The most prosperous party amongst all the regional parties was the Samajwadi Party, which had assets worth Rs. 563.57 crores. Followed by SP, the second most decadent regional party was Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), whose assets stood at Rs. 301.47 crores and the third richest among all the regional parties was All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and their assets were worth Rs. 267.61 crores.
Of all the assets of regional parties, the highest share was contributed by their Fixed Deposits, i.e., Rs. 1,639.51 crores in the financial year 2019-2020. ADR said, “Under the FDR/Fixed Deposits category for the financial year, the BJP and the BSP declared ₹ 3,253.00 crores and ₹ 618.86 crores, the top two among all national parties, while the Congress declared ₹ 240.90 crores.”
