New state presidents for Delhi, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Bihar were appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday, ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections in 2024.
The Bharatiya Janata Party of Delhi has named Virendra Sachdeva its president. In the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he is spearheading the BJP’s campaign to corner AAP over corruption charges and steadily raising the stakes against CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Virendra Sachdeva, the working president of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party, was formally given control of the party’s state organization on Thursday after being urged to do so after the party’s defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections last year.
53-year-old Sachdeva, a member of a Punjabi family that immigrated to India after Partition, was reared in Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi and has strong support from both his neighborhood and the city’s shopkeepers.
According to party insiders, the top leadership of the party had grown more and more persuaded that Sachdeva had led the fight against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had been under increasing pressure due to a barrage of corruption charges in recent months, and had done it “really well.”

Samrat Chaudhary, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party figure, was chosen on Thursday to serve as the new state president of Bihar. For having trust in him, Chaudhary thanked the BJP’s central leadership.
Shakuni Choudhary, a former politician of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is the father of Mr. Chaudhary, who previously served in both the RJD and the JD(U) before joining the BJP. Mr. Chaudhary’s appointment is a response to the JD(U)-RJD ruling coalition in the state, which has a monopoly on OBC and minority votes.
This development occurs before the next Lok Sabha elections in 2024. JP Nadda, the head of the BJP, elevated Chaudhary to the position of the state. Sanjay Jaiswal, a member of the Lok Sabha, formerly served as the party’s state president. Jaiswal’s position was vacant as of September last year.
