The ruling reversed a 2013 judgement that was not supportive to a colonial-era law, known as section 377, under which gay sex is categorised as an “unnatural offence“. The court has ruled discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is a fundamental violation of rights on 6th September 2018.

Several filmmakers of Industry have attempted to explore same-sex storylines in film over the years. While these films were initially met with great criticism, things began to change with time. In real life, movies have transformed how it portrays the LGBTQ community.
With this message many of Bollywood director took initiative to change mindset of India as even after the law. People are not able of any acceptance to this. Here is the list of Bollywood movies based on LGBTQ equality. And loving same gender.
1. Badhaai Do
A recent released Badhaai Do starred by Bhumi Pednekar and Raj Kumar Rao. The film story revolves around Gay man Shardul’s life and Sumi who is not interested in boys. They got to know about each-other’s and decided to get married to shut their parents high expectations from them and keep their hear too.
They get married and lived as room mates with each other. Simultaneously they found their romantic relationship partner too.
The story revolves around how both of their families would go forward from this complicated relationship. And at the end they all got know and it’s quite difficult to them to understanding this but they get along as they obviously love their kids. Which is quite relatable to our Indian society.
2. Shubh Mangal Zyada savdhan.
Ayushaman Khurana is known for the quite challenging topics roles in the industry. The man has succeeded any out of the box topic. Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan is a remake of Shubh Mangal Savdhan. Movie is starred by Ayushman Khurana and Jitendra. It’s about their love story.
A rare beautiful love story of this gay couple directed by Hitesh Kevalya. The ups and downs in the movie after acceptance is treat and relatable to watch. Their love won at the end. There is one one beautiful thing in a movie about Ayushman’s sister did “Sologamy” She decided to marry her self. And this is most appropriative change we need in our society.
3. Chandigarh kare Ashiqui
Again Ayushman Khurana starred movie which tales the love story of a Body Builder man fell in love if the beautiful Zumba Dance. Which he later got to know she is Trans Woman. The fact was not easy to accept by him. The movie shows the struggle of acceptance in a relatable manner.
Apart from the list “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha to Aisa Laga”, Kapoor and Sons, Bombay Talkies, Aligarh was made on same gender love, BombGay the short film and on Otts many web series including Made In Heaven, Ajeeb Dastaan hai ye.
The topic is bit controversial but this needs to normalise and usual in our a culture. We need more movies like this. Once again “Love is Love”.
