Calcutta High Court admitted three PILs ( Public Interest Litigations) looking for the Court’s intervention in fixing the responsibilities of the total negligence that took place in Nazrul Mancha on May 31st where singer Krishnakumar Kunnat ( KK) performed at a packed audience followed which he fell ill and died.
Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj directed the government to file the document within the three weeks and have also asked the administration to be careful in the future so that such tragic incidents do not happen.
The command came while hearing from the three lawyers of the three Public Interest Litigations ( PILs) on the death of the singer. There were even one of the petitioners who demanded a CBI probe into this matter. The petitioners asserted that there was “absolute mismanagement” in Nazrul Mancha on the day when KK was performing live. It also claimed that the air-conditioning system was not functioning properly due to the overcrowding which led to the suffocation inside the auditorium. There were even a number of clips that were circulated on social media and even produced to claim that KK was feeling uncomfortable while performing and that he also took a 10-minute break in the middle of the show.
