Yuzvendra Chahal revealed an unpleasant experience he had in 2013 when a player got drunk while speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin and Karun Nair, his teammates of the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.
Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has made a significant contribution to the Indian cricket team with his right-arm leg spin bowling. Currently, he is playing for his new franchise Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 and has already pocketed seven wickets in three matches. Even off the field, Chahal is a fan favourite and a loved character in the dressing room owing to his funny and witty behaviour.
In a conversation with his Rajasthan Royals teammates, Karun Nair and Ravichandran Ashwin about “comeback stories”, Chahal recalled an unpleasant and terrifying experience he had in the Indian Premier League back in 2013. He was then playing for the Mumbai Indians franchise.
Chahal revealed an incident he said very few people know about. He narrated his terrifying experience of 2013 when a drunk player of the Mumbai Indians team dangled him from a 15th floor balcony.
Chahal narrated the unpleasant incident for the first time in a video released by the Rajasthan Royals in twitter. He recalled how when he was with MI in 2013, after a match in Bengaluru, all the players had got together afterwards. One very drunk player called him and took him outside to the balcony and dangled him from 15th floor.
Chahal’s only anchor was the grip he had around the player. He told R. Ashwin and Karun Nair about the narrow escape he made when others came in and diffused the situation. Chahal said he had almost fainted and coming to his senses he the importance of being responsible for oneself when going out anywhere. The leg-spinner however, did not mention the drunk player’s name.
Yuzvendra Chahal had played for the Mumbai Indians only in his IPL debut year. That year he was unable to take any wickets for the team. However, the following eight years that Chahal played for Royal Challangers Bangalore, he took 139 wickets. In RCB, he was the most successful bowler for the team. He is currently sporting the pink jersey for Rajasthan Royals.
The unpleasant and terrifying experience of Yuzvendra Chahal is a testimony that work place harassment is a reality in every field.
