Today could be an outstanding approach by India, at 5:27pm. The whole India as well as worldwide, witnesses Chandrayaan 3 of ISRO, the lunar landing, Will India become the 4th country to set its foot on Moon by Vikram Lander with rover Pragyan. Will it make a successful landing, in this attempt? Well speaking of which few live updates have been shared by ISRO, in full details.
- Mission factors for successful landing on Moon – Objectives of mission
- Previous attempts: Challenges, failures faced while approaching the Moon
- Political overview with economic stakes
- About Chandrayaan – 3: Vikram lander and Pragyan rover to land over Moon
It’s the 3rd attempt over the surface of Moon’s south pole. The mission itself stands as an indication for upcoming, country’s space power with more exploration on lunar surface.
The mission was launched on 14th July, 2024 at 2:35pm. The estimated landing on the surface of lunar south pole was on 23rd August, 2024 around 5:45pm IST. Which could be expected by 6:05 pm IST. The launch was performed from “Satish Dhawan Space Centre Second Launch Pad, in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, India.” After successfully progressing every orbit of the Earth, it has finally transferred to the lunar orbit.
Experts states that, about 15 – 20 minutes will be determined as the rate of success to land over the Moon. India is preparing for it, to be a grand success, ‘better late than never’. The whole nation is waiting for the attempt to be successful, as it would be national pride and of global attention.
There will be live telecast of the unimaginable moment for India and ISRO, the event is going to be available on broadcaster DD – national TV from 5: 27pm as well on social platforms like YouTube, Facebook and many more.
Mission factors for successful landing on Moon
In the mission of Chandrayaan – 3, the most preferred region of landing was decided on lunar south pole. As the region is with ice water/frozen place that could be a nicest option for landing. It could be the good source of oxygen, fuel and for future endeavor on moon mission as well as more permanent colony.
The lander itself stands around 2 meters tall with a mass of over 1,700 kg which is (3,747.86 lb.). It’s designed small rover to deploy, around 26 kg
As this be the follow-on mission after Chandrayaan- 2, its demonstrates capability in landing safely and smoothly. The Propulsion Module (PM), will be carrying the lander and rover till 100 Km in lunar orbit. The lander would have huge chances on of soft landing at specified lunar surface with deploying the rover for further chemical analysis of the surface while mobility. After PM is separated from LM (Lander Module) their others operation that will be conduct as one scientific payload.
Objectives of mission:
- Soft and safe landing on lunar surface
- Rover roving on surface of moon
- In- situ conduct of scientific experiments
After landing successfully, the expected duration of the functional process is about 2 weeks. Regarding running a series experiments, spectrometer analysis of composition of minerals of the Moon surface.
Previous attempts: Challenges, failures faced while approaching the Moon
Previously it was a failed attempt in 2019, and afterward in Chandrayaan- 2 it successfully reached orbiter but its lander crashed near the touchdown, where the Chandrayaan-3 is about to make its attempt for the 3rd time and we all praying for the success.
Failures for such mission had few complications, like the rough terrain. And apart from ISRO theirs, Russia’s attempt after almost 47- 50 years, which failed over when its Luna-25 spacecraft over the Moon’s surface crashes.
Political overview with economic stakes
If the mission stands successful for ISRO, then it will be the 4th country to set its foot on Moon. After Russia, United states and lastly China marks space power, ahead of national election in upcoming years. In India PM Narendra Modi, is also in stimulant investment in space launches private and satellite based businesses. India on its way to increase share and global market launch within next decades.
One of the statements of Narendra Modi’s were ‘’This would be a new achievement of India, as a space odyssey- with all the dreams of ambitions of Indians”
Lastly the planned landing is going to telecast today at 17: 20 IST on Wednesday.
About Chandrayaan – 3: Vikram lander and Pragyan rover to land over Moon
Most recent lunar exploration by India, to set its foot on Moon with its 3rd attempt. The whole nation is waiting for the unbelievable moment being cherished worldwide. It’s a mission under ISRO Chandrayaan programme. The propulsion module acts as an orbiter, which carries lander and rover until it reaches 100 kilometer Moon orbit.
Chandrayaan 3 launched on 14th of July 2024, at 2:35pm. The estimated landing on the surface of lunar south pole was on 23rd August, 2024 around 5:45pm IST. Which could be expected by 6:05 pm IST.
The launch was performed from Satish Dhawan Space Centre Second Launch Pad, in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, India. Spacecraft reached the orbit of lunar on 5th August 2024.
The month of July, was chosen for the launch, based on multiple calculation made by ISRO related to the distance of Earth and Moon closeness. The Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI), has successfully achieved to reach the Moon’s orbit and tracking every command network from Bengaluru.
After successfully being separated from Propulsion module, and begin its solo trip to the target journey to Moon surface.
