Cheteshwar Pujara, the senior Indian batter, continued his outstanding performance in the English County Championship on Friday, hitting his third century in as many games for Sussex in Hove, United Kingdom.
When Pujara was dismissed for 107 off 167 balls, he had hammered 13 fours to help his team create a commanding lead against Durham, who had been all out for 223 in their first innings.

The out-of-favour The India batsman, who is in excellent form, is making the most of his brief spell in the country. He has already scored three hundreds in his county career, with three hundreds and a double century in his first five innings.
Against Derbyshire, Pujara, who was making his Sussex debut, was removed for six runs as the Tom Haines-led side was bowled out for only 174 runs. When asked to continue, Sussex rode the back of Pujara’s double-century to post a massive total of 513/3, thereby forcing the game into a draw. Haines also has a double century to his credit.
His 109 runs in the first innings of Sussex’s 34-run defeat to Worcestershire were followed by 12 runs in the second innings of the same game.
After scoring these runs, Pujara will be in contention for a spot in the Indian squad when the team travels to England later this year for the postponed fifth Test.
In Hanuma Vihari’s absence, Pujara replaces Pujara at the third spot. If Pujara is picked for the test squad, it remains to be seen if he will be able to make it into the starting XI. According to the schedule, the test game will take place from July 1st to July 5th. The three Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals will be played from July 7 to July 17.
Pujara is also scheduled to participate in the Royal London One-Day Cup. The event is planned to take place between August 2 and September 17, according to the schedule. The previous year, he had competed for Yorkshire in the List A tournament.
Following the Indian Test team’s series defeat in South Africa earlier this year, the seasoned batsman was omitted from the squad.
