One of the more unexpected consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine was that it upended China’s plan to invade Taiwan. According to documents that an analyst supposedly wrote for the Russian intelligence service in a Moscow-based security agency,
As the western superpower, the USA, grapples with the fallout that emerged from the Russian invasion, American lawmakers and officials also seem to be wrestling with what the war could mean for a different territory halfway across the world with the threat of another invasion looming over their heads.
According to the documents, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), considered taking over Taiwan as he required a “little victory” to get re-elected for a third term.
Following Russia’s invasion, China lost its window of opportunity to invade Taiwan
However, following Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, the window of opportunity to invade Taiwan has been closed to Xi Jinping, giving the USA the excuse to not only blackmail Xi but also negotiate with its competitors, says an agent in Russia’s Federal Security Service.
“The global clash between the US and China was inevitable,” the agent recorded. “After the war with Ukraine (although I may avoid using the term “operation” here), the cost of resources in the world, especially energy ones, has gone up.
The main victim of such actions becomes China, to which (I can confirm) they are given guarantees that everything will end quickly. Therefore, China has behaved tolerantly in the past. But that was before that. “
The agent further predicted that China might give an ultimatum to Russia to end the war in hopes of stabilising oil prices. The founder of Gulagu.net (a human rights group), Vladimir Osechkin, published the report on his Facebook page.
Osechkin claimed that the agent who wrote the March 5th report claiming Russian victory in Ukraine was an impossible outcome also wrote this document.
The war between Russia and Ukraine might ultimately benefit China
According to a congressional candidate and former FBI agent, Steve Gray, there is a possibility that China may emerge as the primary beneficiary of the Russia-Ukraine war. He said the Chinese government should treat the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a case study of what the world’s response would look like if China decides to invade Taiwan.
Just as Vladimir Putin considers Ukraine a part of historic Ukraine, Xi Jinping believes Taiwan to be a part of China. The FSB agent suggests that this similarity should encourage China to rethink a possible invasion of Taiwan.
The resolve that the Ukrainians have against the Russian attack successfully stalled the Kremlin’s timeline for war as peace talks are ongoing. In October, the US President said that the US would defend Taiwan if China invaded it.
No one should underestimate the strong resolve, determination, and capability of the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. “China has no room for compromise,” responded a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.
