BJPs women workers carried out a stage protest on Thursday outside resident of parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal over his rape remark
The Assembly witnessed hubbub over Parliamentary Affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal’s awful annotation on the cause behind the increased rape cases in Rajasthan. The House adjourned twice because of the continuous disruption by the opposition on proceedings to protest the comment.
The cabinet minister requested an apology by saying it was a slip of tongue. However, the opposition continued protest and demanding his resignation. The National Commission for Women (NCW) took Sua sponte cognizance of the comment.
This went viral on the internet on Thursday. NCW wrote to Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Speaker CP Joshi to take strong action against Dhariwal.
During the demand for the grants of home department on Wednesday, Dhariwal Said, Rajasthan is number 1 in rape cases, no doubt about it. What are the reasons of these rape cases now? Somewhere there is a mistake. Anyways, Rajasthan is a men’s state. What to do with it now?
As soon as the House assemble on Thursday morning, Opposition Leader Gulab Chand Kataria raised the matter, BJP members rushed to the well to protest against Gahlot’s rape remark.
Kataria stated that the state has been known for its bravery but the minister’s annotation was nothing but an insult to its people.
Speaker Joshi addressed to the House that Minister’s remark has been exterminated from the proceedings of the house but the media published it which is very deplorable.
In his apologies Dhariwal said “It was a slip of tongue. I feel sorry for that. Rajasthan is a desert and I wanted to say something about that. Personally, I respect women and will always do that. If I have hurt anyone, I want to apologies.”
