Chennai Super Kings(CSK) won their fifth Indian Premier League title with five-wicket excellence against Gujarat Titans in a rain-affected but consuming final clash that left fans bewildered.
Gujarat would be disappointed with the result because they had one hand on the trophy. Hardik Pandya, Gujarat’s captain, begins by noting that they tick a lot of boxes and play with a lot of passion and that he is proud of the way the boys have performed this season. He goes on to clarify that he is not one of those persons who make excuses and claims that CSK played better cricket.
He asserts they got enough runs and then praises Sai Sudharsan for his performance. Hardik went on to thank all of the players as well as the coaching staff. For MS Dhoni, he says he feels grateful for him, that fate was on his side, and that he doesn’t mind losing to him. He concludes with MS Dhoni declaring that he is a decent person who thinks that good things happen to good people.
Highlights
GT scored an exhilarating 214 runs for 4 wickets. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scored 67 runs in seven overs to help GT get off to a quick start. While Gill was dismissed for a 20-ball 39 by ace left-arm spinning all-rounder Jadeja, Saha went on to score 54 off 39 balls to create a solid framework for a challenging total.
Deepak Chahar, who dropped Gill while the batsman was on 3, dismissed Saha. Sudharsan, who has been in top form recently, hammered six sixes and eight fours in his quickfire innings.
Sai Sudharsan’s 96 in 47 balls helped Gujarat Titans record 214 for four after being asked to bat first.
Jadeja led CSK to success
CSK won the IPL 2024 Final as Ravindra Jadeja scored a boundary off the final ball of the game. After rain disrupted play in Ahmedabad, CSK needed to chase down 171 runs in 15 overs in a revised total. The player who hit the game-winning runs for CSK says it’s an incredible feeling to win his sixth title in front of his home crowd. The crowd was fantastic, and they stayed up late to watch them triumph.
He thanks the CSK supporters for turning out in great numbers to support them. He dedicates the victory to MS Dhoni. His plan, he claims, was to swing hard no matter what. Explains that anything can happen, so he backed up and aimed straight. Ends by congratulating every CSK fan and stating that as long as they are present, they will continue to battle and win trophies.
Fans don’t want to let go of MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni spoke to the broadcasters and interviewers after the match. The CSK captain believes it is a perfect time to announce his retirement, but his hardest part would be training for 9 months and returning to play one more season. He went on to say that the manner in which the crowd followed him to different grounds and demonstrated their enthusiasm earned him the right to return and play another season.
He states that it is the end of his career and that when he walked out, he heard the audience shouting his name and he had tears in his eyes. He claims that they want to see him return, which he will do and perform however he can.
The supporters respect him for who he is, and they appreciate his grounded nature. Dhoni states to them that he wishes to be true to himself because that is what they admire. He tells his teammates that every trophy they win, whether a series between teams or a tournament, is a team game in which they must work together. He went on to say that in times of crisis, people must be prepared.
He reluctantly admits that there have been lapses and that even in this game, the bowling department did not do their job, but the batting department took responsibility for them. He realizes that various people react differently to pressure, and they aim to prepare them to handle scenarios.
