CWG Has Set Stage For Women's Cricket At 2028 Olympics In LA

According to a source, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been asked by the IOC to give a presentation in support of cricket’s participation. Probably in the second quarter of 2024, at the IOC meeting in Mumbai, the presentation will be given.

Since women’s cricket made its T20I debut at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, there have been increasing calls for the sport to be added to the Olympic program.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will examine the prospect of including cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics, which is wonderful news for fans.

Along with eight other sports, including baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, breakdancing, karate, kickboxing, squash, and motorsport, the IOC has selected cricket for review. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) fought hard to get cricket into the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The ICC is extremely optimistic that cricket will be included in the LA games because it is “a star attraction” at the CWG 2022, which is now taking place in Birmingham.
