What Happened in Safdarjung?
Safdarjung ran its OPD services manually and therefore, the case had not been severe. The AIIMS server remained down for the 12th day today. Dr. Sherwal, the MS of Safdarjung Hospital said that the hospital was under a cyberattack but it was not ransomware. He also said that the hospital also had its server down in November, but just for one day. The National Informatics Centre (NIC), IT, handled the situation efficiently and revived the system.
Hence, all the data was recovered. After being questioned by the ANI, one of the officials from the hospital said that the IP was blocked. The IT of the hospital remained silent when asked about further information by the ANI team. A Sr Resident doctor said that there wasn’t such a chaos created, since most of the time the hospital does its work manually.
On the other hand, services are more likely to start in the middle of next week manually as per the statement given by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi. According to the officials, internet services are still blocked but approximately 3000 computers have been scanned and antivirus has also been uploaded for future safety. No further information was provided by the administration, staff or faculty of the hospital. As per the AIIMS Delhi sources, two analysts got suspended, on Monday for breach .
The AIIMS sources further said that the whole process is taking some time due to the volume of data and the large number of computers in the hospital services.
Proper measures are being taken by the cyber security and e-Hospital data has been restored on the servers and the network is currently being sanitised before the services can be restored. The laboratory information system (LIS) database and other dependent databases have also been restored. All hospital services, including the laboratories, outpatient, in-patient, etc are running on manual mode, the sources further enunciated.
