Cyclone Biparjoy has resulted in a flood-like situation in three districts of Rajasthan, namely Jalore, Sirohi, and Barmer, following heavy rainfall. This development was reported by the Disaster Relief and Management Department on June 18.Â
No human or livestock casualties have been reported thus far. However, as a precautionary measure, the Army and the National Disaster Response Force have been put on standby to address any potential emergencies.
In the Pali district, six individuals were rescued by the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) after they became stranded in low-lying areas due to waterlogging. The situation is dire in Jalore, Sirohi, and Barmer, where heavy rainfall has created flood-like conditions, according to P.C. Kishan, the Secretary of State Disaster and Relief.
However, he added that no loss of life or livestock has been reported, and their teams are on high alert to respond to any exigency.
Due to the intense water flow, several small anicuts were damaged in Barmer, while larger dams in Pindwara, Abu Road, and Reodar are overflowing. The water level in the Batisa dam in Sirohi has risen to 315 meters. Mr Kishan issued an alert for heavy rain in the state for the next 15-20 hours.
