Raigad has received a red alert as the “Tauktae” is expected to grow more and move towards Gujarat passing Mumbai.
Tauktae intensifies into a severe cyclonic storm. Since the Monday alert for Mumbai, Palomar and Thane by the IMD( Indian Meteorological Department). Thousands of people living near the expected affected area are warned and cautioned by the state disaster management. Due to this alarming situation, the vaccine drive has also been paced down and cancelled on Monday across all public vaccination centers. Mumbai Airport was shut down for 3 hours. Bandra-Wali sea link is also informed to remain closed due to the cyclone until further update regarding Tauktae is received.
Residents are told to opt for different routes to travel and are advised to stay indoors during such situations. Collapsing of houses, roof tops and pole uprooting has been reported in three of the districts – Thane, Raigad and Sindhudurg. Instances of heavy destruction of structures had also been informed because of the intensity of the Tauktae. As this Cyclonic storm is about to struck Gujarat, people are being shifted to several shelter home to keep them safe and secure. The approximate time for Cyclonic Tauktae to actually hit the coastline of Gujarat is expected to be around 8:00p.m to 11:00p.m.
