Mistry, a 54-year-old man was travelling along with three other people – a renowned Mumbai gynaecologist Dr Anhita Pandole, her husband Darius Pandole and his brother Jehangir Pandole.
While Dr Pandole and Darius Pandole are going through their treatment at a hospital at Vapi,
Jehangir Pandole was the other person who also died in the accident.
They all toured to Iranshah Atash Behram at Udvada early in the day.
The police-in-charge of the area claims that the incident took place on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai national highway near 3.15 pm. The place of the incident was also not too far but barely a couple of hours’ drive from Mumbai.
Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said, “Of the four persons in the Mercedes car, two – (Mistry and Jehangir Pundole) – were declared dead instantly and two others (Darius and his wife Dr. Anahita Pundole) who were injured critically, have been rushed to Rainbow Hospital in Vapi,” Patil told media persons.
As per the eyewitnesses, Dr Anhita Pandole was the one driving the car.
The fatal Accident
The incident was tentatively treated as an accident by the Palghar police officials. They claimed it to be a mere accident and that all four people became mere victims of “over-speeding” as the car hit with full force and speed near the divider which even cost Mistry and Jahangir Pundole their lives.
The incident took place about 105 KM distance north of Mumbai, on the national highway near Charoti.
The impact of the crash was impactful and with a force that even the deployed car’s airbags for saving passengers failed. It could not save the occupants- demising two while injuring the other two. Also, the dark-grey Mercedes car got badly vandalised.
