The Dahi Handi, which is a great part of the Janmashtami Festival in India, is celebrated with great intensity. That happened across the country on Friday, after the COVID-19 pandemic-induced gap of 2 years.
Till Friday evening, there were around 110 Govindas (young participants who make human pyramids to celebrate Dahi Handi). They try to reach earthen pots that are full of buttermilk and try to break them in mid-air. Of the 110 Govindas injured that day, 11 were being treated in hospital and the rest were discharged.
While many politicians organized these events, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray attended a series of events organized in Mumbai and Thane.
