Bahrain’s women’s cricket team entered their name in the world records on Tuesday. The team enjoyed a record-fest outing against Saudi Arabia in the GCC Women’s T20 Championship match. The Bahrain team created history by registering the highest ever total in the shortest format of the game.Â
Deepika Rasangika, the captain of the Bahrain team, starred in the tournament as she led her team into locking horns with Saudi Arabia in the 7th match of the Women’s Championship at the AI Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket Stadium. Â

Rasangika-inspired Bahrain women’s cricket team scored a whopping total of 318/1 against the Saudi Arabia women’s cricket team at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket Stadium. Not only this, but Rasangika also became the first-ever woman to register a 150-plus score in the shortest format of the game. Bahrain women’s team also broke the record for the highest run rate in an innings with a net run rate of 15.9.Â
Bahrain women’s cricket team beat Saudi Arabia by a big margin of 269 runs and they picked up a comfortable win. The Saudi Arabia women team tried to chase the total record, but they could only collect 49 runs at 8 wickets in the 20 over the contest. The mammoth win is also the second-largest triumph (by margin) in women’s T20s. Interestingly, Bahrain scored the record total but she did not hit a single six. Deepika Rasangika Herath scored 161 not out against Saudi Arabia and became the highest run-scorer in women’s T20s. Herath has shattered Alyssa Healy’s unbeaten 148 by achieving the massive feat.Â

Tharanga Gajanayake played along with Deepika Rasangika. She scored a commendable 94 runs and did not lose her grip till the end. Along with Rasangika, she was in the game till the end. She hit 17 fours in 56 balls and her strike rate was 167.85 Rasika Rodrigo, however, got out after hitting just 13 runs off 11 balls. She hit two 4s. Her wicket was taken by Emaan Ejaz whose economy is 15.75. Then came our star batter, Deepika Rasangika. She hit 31 fours and earned a strike rate of 243.93.Â
Saudi Arabia tried to chase the score but could not come very far. Cheryl Sewsunker and Zoha Irfan opened the match. Cheryl hit a four and then got out by Shetty’s ball, caught by Gajanayake. Zoha Irfan got out for a three-ball duck. Ruba Rashid scored 7 runs in almost 4 overs and got stroked out by Rasangika, the captain herself. Maira Khan and Abeer Maryam scored 9 runs off 40 balls and 8 runs off 14 balls consecutively. Rida and Emaan Ejaz got the second and third duck of the game. Amna Khan and Saba Ali Syeda were not out till the end. Amna scored 8 runs off 15 balls while Saba had just started her innings with 1 run of 2 balls in the last over of the record-breaking match.Â
