Around a month ago, two bodies were found in Delhi and it was suspected to be the result of a gang war. After having investigated the case, Delhi Police has made an arrest with respect to the circumstances of the case.
The Murder
On 11th July 2024, two men were found shot dead in Northeast Delhi in what looked like a gang war gone wrong. The men were identified as Pradeep Kumar and Bablu who also went by the name Patla. One of these men were involved in several crimes like theft and had a long criminal record which pointed towards the direction they were indeed involved in one of the criminal gangs that have networks in the northern part of the country.
Both these men, aged 40 were found within 300 meters of each other. They both were daily wage workers and knew each other. The police suspect that after the assailant shot Bablu, Pradeep must have tried to flee but could not get far enough and was put down within meters of his acquaintance.
The police received a call in Welcome station and they first found Pradeep who had faced gunshot wounds to his stomach and near the pelvis. Bablu was found minutes later with gunshot wounds similar to Pradeep but on his chest. Both the men had been killed with two bullets. Pradeep Kumar was taken to the hospital but declared dead.
Investigation on the case
The Investigation of Pradeep Kumar and Bablu’s murder was in full force. The police asked everyone these men knew if they had anyone that could be so antagonized towards either of them that could result in a tragedy like this. Pradeep Kumar lived with his brother and Bablu lived with his father, wife and three children. They both lived in different areas in Welcome, Delhi.
Bablu had many cases of robbery, theft and snatching filed against him. THis showed that they both had some kind of connection with gangs in Delhi. Police were speculating a gang war or antagonism among the men and their respective gangs which may have led to a shootout and resulted in the death of Pradeep Kumar and Bablu better known as Patla.
CCTV footage of the area where the men’s bodies were found were being looked into to identify the faces of the possible perpetrator and see if there were any vehicle number plates they could run on their database to find out who was behind this gang war.
Bablu’s family told the Delhi Police that his brother and sister in law had seemed to cause some problem to them and Bablu went to their house to resolve it but also had Pradeep Kumar accompany him that night. That particular issue had supposedly been resolved to the family’s knowledge but the police probed into that angle as well.
Recent Developments
The Delhi Police has finally come to a result of all the inquiries in the Pradeep Kumar and Bablu Patla murder case. They made an arrest in relation to this case yesterday. Salman also known as Tohid and his group of friends had acquired new weapons and arms courtesy of their gang and wanted to show their prowess in shooting and their position of power in the said gang.
The police conducted raids and asked around about Salman and his friends and how they operated. Salman was supposed to come to Welcome yesterday for a meeting with a friend in relation to the gang yesterday and a sting operation was arranged by the Delhi Police to nab the culprit.
After having arrested him, the police questioned him about the murders of Pradeep Kumar and Bablu Patla. He confessed to killing them. He told the police that he had no relation or acquaintance with both the men whatsoever and simply wanted to show his power off to the people around him so they found two random locals and shot them both in a drunken state.
