The Aam Aadmi Party government has given a big new year gift to hundreds of employees of the Delhi Jal Board. Hundreds of contractual employees of the Delhi Jal Board have now been permanently confirmed.
With this decision of the Arvind Kejriwal government, government jobs of 700 employees will become stable, and they will get all the benefits provided by the government. Arvind Kejriwal himself gave the appointment letter to the employees on Wednesday.
“I’ve been told that for the very first time in Delhi Govt, such a large number of contractual workers are being made permanent, together.”
says Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He also made a sarcastic remark to the central government during his speech.
The Delhi Jal Board is a self-governing body with no involvement from the central government. We also wanted this for Delhi government employees, but the Centre has greater power; we’ll do our best, said Kejriwal.
According to the order, the outside agency such as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and Public Works Department (PWD) shall submit all requests pertaining to the sewer side with drawings and the proposed alignment of a replacement who will act as nodal officer in all such cases.
“There is a myth that ‘kutcha’ employees should not be made ‘pucca’ as they would become lazy and not do much work. But when we brought a revolution in the education department after forming our government for the first time in 2015, or when we improved the healthcare system, all this was done by government teachers, doctors, and nurses only,” Kejriwal said.
So this move has dispelled that myth too and they will now work twice as much as they did before because they would feel a sense of security, he added.
The chief minister claimed this was a “landmark step” taken by the Delhi government.
“Never in the history of Delhi has any government regularised contractual workers at such a large scale. Other state governments will be compelled to follow in Delhi’s footsteps,” he said.
