On Saturday evening, the Jahangirpuri area of northwest Delhi witnessed a clash between two communities during the Hanuman Jayanti Procession. Police said that stones were pelted and some vehicles were torched in the violence.
Police have arrested 21 people, including the mastermind of the Clash. A shooter was also arrested when a bullet hit a police sub-inspector during the clash. And they added that there were eight police personnel and a local who got injured while they were pelting stones.
Sub-inspector Medhalal, who sustained bullet injuries in the clash, said that the police had controlled the situation. But suddenly, a mob popped up and started pelting stones from C-block and fired on the police personnel.
At Jahangirpuri station, a police sub-inspector said that possession was going well and peacefully, but when the procession reached C-block, they were standing near a mosque and started arguing with participants. Then the letter argument turned into violence and stone-pelting from both sides.
In a video, we can see that a man started an open fire during clashes with CRPF personnel. How the police started compiling all the CCTV footage and using a drone to find out that stone was stored somewhere on the rooftops of houses. According to police records, nine people were injured in the clash.
After the violence, police are on alert in all districts and all the senior personnel have asked to be grounded.
