DG Prisons Found Murdered Under Suspicious Circumstances in Jammu: Police

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General (Detainment facilities) Hemant K Lohia was killed at his home here on Monday night with police considering his domestic assistance as the main culprit, police said.
Domestic General of Police Dilbag Singh portrayed it as a “very sad” incident and said a manhunt had been launched to nap his domestic assistant recognized as Jasir, who is absconding.
Giving details, Singh advised PTI that the suspect had even endeavored to set burning the collection of 57-year-old Lohia, who was advanced and selected director General of prison in the union territory in August.
Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh, who visited the house at Udaiwala on the edges of Jammu, said Lohia, a 1992-batch IPS official, was found dead with consumed wounds on his body and his throat slit.
A primer assessment of the crime location demonstrated that Lohia probably had been applying some oil on his foot which showed some swelling. The executioner had first suffocated Lohia to death and furthermore utilized a broken ketchup container to cut his throat and later attempted to set the body ablaze, the police boss said.
The watchmen present at the home of the official saw the fire inside Lohia’s room. They needed to tear open the entryway as it was locked from inside, he said.
The ADGP said the primer assessment of the scene of the crime focuses on murder.
“The domestic assistance is fleeing. A quest for him has begun,” he said, adding forensic and crime teams are on the spot.
“The investigation process has started. Senior officials are on the spot,” the official said, adding the J&K Police family communicates sadness and profound distress over the passing of their senior official.
