Instead of the authorities being notified about some rabid strays some civilians in Kerala took law in their hands and murdered them all overnight!
LATEST NEWS
People in Kerala appear to be dealing with the problem on their own while stray dog assaults and rabies-related deaths are on the rise. There has recently been an increase in dog attacks in several areas of the state. A stray dog was publicly executed on Tuesday at Changanassery in the Kottayam district.
Also, a wreath was put close to the animal. Ten stray dog carcasses were discovered on Monday in Mulakulam, Kottayam district. Locals believed that the dogs had been poisoned. A police investigation into the event has begun.
Locals buried the stray animals’ bodies, but a case was opened after a local complained that his pet canines had been poisoned along with the other animals. According to Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses crimes against animals, a case has been filed against unnamed individuals, according to Velloor police, according to PTI.
Mischief involving the killing or maiming of an animal is covered by IPC Section 429. People for Animals Trivandrum has requested the public to notify them if they become aware of any occurrences of attacks on dogs in light of the upsurge in such incidents.
According to animal rights activists, The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960 makes any form of aggression against dogs illegal.
RESPONSIBLE ACTION BEING TAKEN
Poor waste management, insufficient sterilisation of stray animals, and a lack of rabies vaccines are some of the factors contributing to the growing stray dog population.
To address the issue of stray dogs, the Left government has said that they will begin a massive dog vaccination push on September 20.
In reality, the government has already taken some action, such as opening ABC centres in 152 blocks. There are 37 centres operating at the moment.
Strays can be immunised, which helps to prevent deadly dog bites and is an effective way to combat the problem.
Only 20,000 canines have been sterilised since 2016 as a result of the Animal Birth Control Project, which was started by the animal husbandry department, showing the program’s failure.
When the Supreme Court takes up the stray dog nuisance matter for hearing on September 28, the Kerala Government will want authorization to kill infected dogs.
DARK FUTURE FOR THE UNREPRESENTED
One thing is certain: if the government receives this authorization, all stray dogs will perish because there will be no guarantee that evidence for the rabies-prone dogs would be gathered and those infected would be respectfully put to rest.
Alternatively, every stray dog will be put to death under the guise of prevention because they are viewed as filthy and a threat. Which court can these same stray dogs go to in order to obtain justice and peace when they are run over, tortured, or raped and whatnot? When these same dogs suffer due to the threat that people pose to them, their defence will always be considered an offence.
Numerous NGO’s and animal activists are always stepping forward to rescue animals who have been hurt or are afflicted with terrible diseases like cancer or tumours. These organisations move and rehabilitate these helpless, voiceless animals using their own cash or donations from other animal enthusiasts.
But most eyes will always view them as a burden, something they don’t want, and something that hurts their eyes. These creatures have feelings and hearts. They experience hatred, ignorance, and loneliness, yet all they ask in return is protection from the heat and cold, access to clean water, and, if possible, leftover food.
A boy who obtained acid from his uncle’s workplace in Raipur in August 2022 threw it on six stray dogs because he didn’t like their noisy barking. After the investigation, the adolescent was released and is currently free to wander, while the other victims of the acid assault are still in excruciating pain and four of them died and the rest two are still suffering and traumatized.
A dog was chained to heavy stones by two men in a village in south India, who then flung the dog into the nearby river as a third guy took the video. They too roam free.
In a separate incident, two kids bound the legs of a stray puppy and repeatedly beat him. The body was never even recovered, yet the screams are audible in the footage.
