Donald Trump makes accusations toward a panel inquiring about the US Capitol riot, calling it a “kangaroo court,”
While lashing out at congressional committee members, he reiterated his statements saying the 2020 election was rigged.
Donald Trump has made accusations toward the panel inquiring into the US Capitol riot, calling it a “kangaroo court,” lashing out at its vice chair Liz Cheney, calling her a “sanctimonious loser” and restating his statements about the 2020 election being stolen.
A while after lawmakers concluded a forensic condemnation of Trump’s inaction during the January 6, 2021 insurrection, his social media posts confirmed that he was closely following the hearing pertaining to how he disregarded pleas to order his supporters to disperse and go home.
Trump took to the Twitter-like platform Truth Social, stating that if he had an election rigged and stolen from him, and the United States, the USA is going to hell, he said, asking if he’s supposed to be happy, as he accused the court panel of being corrupt and extremely partisan.
The twice-impeached 76-year-old, who is contemplating another campaign for the White House in 2024, asked why lawmakers did not order the Secret Service to affirm all the accusations directed at him, saying that he tried to rush to take control of his limousine as he intended to join the civil mob storming the Capitol.
Because they know the answer and don’t like it, Trump directed accusations, calling the court a “Kangaroo Court” on Thursday.
He also picked on top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell, calling him a disloyal sleazebag after the committee aired rare footage of McConnell working to clear up the Capitol so Congress could proceed with Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory.
After administration witnesses testified that Trump made no efforts to contact any city or federal offices to control the violence, Trump pinned the blame on his political nemesis, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
He went to attack Liz Cheney, calling her a sanctimonious loser after the congresswoman wrote off Trump as unpatriotic and dangerous for reiterating his election fraud lie.
Across eight hearings, the committee built a case holding that Trump helped orchestrate the deadly riot, refused for hours to discourage his supporters and order them to go home, and is therefore no longer fit to hold office.
Cheney, ward of former vice president Dick Cheney, has been criticized by her own party for severely accusing Trump, but she pressed on regardless at Thursday night’s hearing.
She sought for every American to consider if a president who was willing to make the decisions Donald Trump made during the outbreak of violence on January 6 ever be trusted with any position of authority in the nation again.
The committee investigating the mob attack on the US Capitol stated in its latest hearing that the former president refused to stop his supporters, despite several pleas from aides.
The congressional committee which is investigating the January 6 riots on Thursday presented further evidence accusing former US President Donald Trump of purposely choosing not to act as his supporters ransacked the US Capitol and pressured lawmakers with violence.Â
In what is most likely the final hearing till September, the committee has documented the time frame from when Trump sent his supporters to the Capitol after a “stop the steal” rally, to when the president appeared in a video in front of the White House telling the mob to disperse, calling them special about 187 minutes later.Â
