Apple’s vice president of health, Dr. Sumbul Desai, will reportedly visit India in February. Desai will take part in a fireside talk at BioAsia, Hyderabad, with Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, as part of her tour. On February 25, the event is expected to take place at BioAsia, Hyderabad.
As Apple’s vice president of health, Dr. Sumbul Desai is currently in charge of the company’s clinical product development, medical research, and novel clinical alliances. Dr. Sumbul Desai also oversees their regulatory and quality departments.Â
The top Apple executive most recently held the positions of Associate Chief Medical Officer at Stanford Healthcare and Vice Chair of Strategy and Innovation in the Department of Medicine at Stanford Medicine. Additionally, she holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Stanford School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine.
Apple’s emphasis on wellness
Apple has been actively engaged in the health sector over the past few years, particularly since the introduction of the Apple Watch. The company works with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the American Heart Association, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Johns Hopkins University to conduct health research and promote scientific innovation.
Apple has been rolling out new fitness and health capabilities for people using the Apple Watch. Retrospective ovulation estimations, the ECG app, unusual rhythm alarms, cycle tracks, and hearing health features are just a few of the consumer health capabilities that are now accessible on watch and iPhone with the recent debut of Apple’s temperature sensing technology.
More than 250,000 software development building blocks known as APIs are only one of the many tools and fundamental technologies that Apple has made available to all developers to aid in the creation of apps. It enables third-party developers to create health and fitness apps using the HealthKit API that are compatible with the Health app and take advantage of the sensors on the iPhone and watch.
