Gulshan Devaiah kills it as a serial killer in the new ZEE5 show. Duranga
Lee Joon Gi, the beautiful man, has been tied to the bottom of the pool; he’s going to die, and my heart is in my mouth! Should I read the show’s synopsis like everyone else or continue? To my relief, Moon Chae Won jumps into the pool and kisses him on the lips, saving him! Flower Of Evil was a huge success.
Gulshan Devaiah is drowning in the water because his legs and hands are tied to a rock. Who will come to his aid? Drashti Dhami doesn’t have a magical kiss, but she has the same concern and panic on her face as Moon Chae Won.
The details of the famous K-drama vanished as watched the serial killer drama unfold. In essence, this is entirely Indian (aside from a couple of minor quibbles). This is an excellent adaptation. Congratulations to Charudutt Acharya, the writer, and the teams at Rose Audio Visuals and Zee5.
Gulshan Devaiah in Duranga is a fantastic actor who eats up the scenery whenever he appears on the screen. Whatever he’s Karate Mani (and his evil twin) in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota or Guru Narayan (in his green suit) in Badhai Do. I was fangirling over his role in Badhai Do. He was the center of attraction for me when he appeared in the middle of the movie. In this role, he plays the serial killer husband of a cop.
Drashti Dhami is a well-known television personality in India. She has done it all, from Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi to Madhubala– Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon to hosting TV shows. Her curly hair and saucer eyes give her a strong screen presence. She looks just as good in jeans and a shirt as she does in sarees. She emotes with her eyes, but this can be a hindrance at times because it appears that all she’s doing is making her eyes wider.
Her relationship with her colleague and junior has been nicely fleshed out as a detective, and the boss also treats her with respect. The supporting cast has done an excellent job. With this show, Zee5 has struck gold because the Korean show is too awesome to watch.
This could start a trend of production companies looking for K-dramas to remake. This trend does bother me at some level because you cannot match their level. Who watches K-dramas, definitely knows what will happen next and also knows the whole story, but still let’s give it a try and try to watch.
