The Italian international signed for Chelsea in 2018 from Roma. However, he has failed to regularly make appearances for the club and spent the last season on loan to Lyon. The move to West Ham is thus important for the player.
Emerson made a total of 71 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 2 goals and assisting 5. His overall minute total for Chelsea stands at 5025. He won the Champions League trophy with the club in 2021 but spent most of the matches on the bench or either injured.
Overall, Emerson Palmieri won 4 trophies with Chelsea. He won the English FA Cup in 2018, Europa League in 2018–19, the Champions League in 2020–21, and the UEFA Super Cup in 2021. He will thus leave Chelsea with a fair share of trophies and contributions.
Emerson Palmieri on his move to West Ham
“I can’t wait to get started in a West Ham shirt,” Palmieri said. “I’m very happy to be here and to have arrived here. It’s a big challenge for me, it’s a big team, so I’m very happy to be here and I’m ready.
“Personally, since the first day I arrived here in England, I always saw the big clubs, I always watched the big games, and I knew the history of West Ham. The history is so, so big for this team and so when I knew about the interest, I said ‘Yes, let’s go, I want to go there’ and I’m here now. ”
West Ham is currently at the bottom of the Premier League table with no wins in 3 matches. Emerson Palmieri is West Ham’s 7th signing this summer, and the club will hope to change things around. West Ham manager seems enthusiastic about Emerson’s signing.
“We are very pleased to welcome Emerson to West Ham United,” said Moyes. “He is an experienced player with a good pedigree, who has enjoyed great success at both club and international level in recent years.”
“He will give us strong competition in defensive areas and bring a winning mentality that we are looking to build here at West Ham.” We look forward to working with Emerson and wish him all the very best in his career with us. ”
