Neha Kakkar released a new version of Falguni Pathak’s song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. The latter one disapproves.

In a shocking accident, the infamous folklore singer Falguni Pathak has launched a scathing attack on Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar. The latter one released a new version of her song ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’. This infuriated Falguni Pathak because she believes her song’s innocence has been spoiled now.

What was Falguni Pathak’s Initial Reaction?

In a few interviews to the media, Falguni Pathak has said that she was shocked to hear the new version of her song O Sajna. Her initial reaction was that of disappointment because her son’s innocence, theme and aura was spoiled by Neha Kakkar. She also claimed that when she first heard the song, she felt like puking. In pursuit to relate to new era music and generations, Neha Kakkar has spoiled the inherent theme of her song, said Falguni Pathak.

Moreover, she firmly said that she won’t hold herself back, given that even her fans are expressing their disapproval of the song. Emboldened by the support she is receiving by the netizens, she has accused Neha Kakkar of fraud on major news and media platforms.

What has been the audience’s reaction?

The netizens have taken to the social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube to voice their criticism about Neha Kakkar’s new single, O Sajna. The people are unhappy because they believe that Neha Kakkar has spoiled the legendary song. The decency has been taken away leaving behind a Bollywood Masala-style mess.

The iconic song ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’ was released in 1999 by Falguni Pathak whereas Neah Kakkar has released a recreated version of the song under the banner O Sajna.O Sajna features Neha in the music video along with Dhanashree Verma and Priyank Sharma. The song features the hook line from the original with additional lyrics by Jaani. The song itself has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi, who is well-known for his Bollywood remixes.

Falguni Pathak has even claimed that she was about to sue Neha Kakkar for running her songs but she cannot do that lawfully. Technically, she doesn’t have the property rights over the song to sue Neha Kakkar. But this hasn’t stopped the iconic singer from slamming Neha multiple times.

What has been Neha’s Reaction?

Neha Kakkar has replied back to several trolls over the weekend. She has written tweets like ‘she was sorry for people who were unhappy because of her happiness.’ She also said that she was too blessed to have any unhappy moments at all. Recently she released a full-fledged letter on social media platforms thanking her fans.

She took a dig at trolls without directly addressing the controversy. The Thank You note stated that:

“Very few people in the world get what I have received in life. That too at such a young age. This kind of Fame, Love, Countless Super Hit Songs, Super Duper Hit TV Shows, World Tours, Fans from Little Kids to 80-90 years old people and What Not!!

You know why I got all this because of my Talent, Hard Work, Passion and Positivity. So…Today I just wanna Thank God and each one of You for giving me what I have today.”

This note was titled as ‘How I feel Today’ The fans who support her believe that this introspective note is a direct message to Falguni Pathak to bash her claims of indecency. Moreover, the netizens have been speculating whether the song will be taken down or Neha Kakkar will apologise. So far, the song has been released on Youtube, Spotify and all the major sound platforms and has gathered more than 21 million views and 450K likes on the Youtube platform. Moreover, the song is trending as #3 in the music category of the major platforms.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the future, given that Bollywood is hell-bent on creating a plethora of remakes. Recently, Bollywood has been hit by drug and nepotism scandals followed by boycotts of movies. The big budget movies have been performing poorly at the box offices. Therefore, the lows received due to remakes can deteriorate the relevance of Bollywood.
